Blackstone Parks Gateway

Gateway: Existing Conditions
Existing Conditions

The Blackstone Parks Gateway is a project that aims to slow & filter stormwater runoff, improve safety, and enhance aesthetics and park character at the southern end of Blackstone Boulevard. The project design is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Narragansett Bay Estuary Program and collaboratively led by the Blackstone Parks Conservancy, Seekonk River Alliance, Groundwork RI, and the City of Providence, with support from consultants Horsley Witten Group.

The draft concept below is the outcome of an extensive public review of conceptual design alternatives to meet the project objectives in different ways. The selected concept was determined to best meet these objectives. Next steps are to continue public outreach to obtain additional feedback and clarify plan details; complete engineering design and obtain permits; and solicit funds for project construction.
