We were lucky to have two sets of volunteers clean up in Blackstone Park during the last weekend of September. Sunday morning, volunteers took part in a “reverse Tashlich” cleanup along the waterways. The Conservancy and Save The Bay co-hosted this event, part of the International Coastal Cleanup. Our wonderful Parks Department partners provided a big dumpster – a good thing since the 60 volunteers collected a record-setting 544 lbs of trash! A huge thank you to Tikkun HaYam-Repair the Sea, the members of Temple Beth-El, Temple Emanu-El, Congregation Beth Shalom, and URI’s Hillel!
Later that day, experienced BPC volunteers worked with a group of neighbors in the South Section, clearing a formidable accumulation of trash near the southern border of the Park. What an improvement. Thank you, caring neighbors, for your commitment and hard work!
