Our beloved beech trees are facing a dire threat from beech tree disease. With the City’s permission, we hired a contractor to treat the Boulevard’s six beech trees with a soil drench of potassium phosphite, a non-toxic compound that boosts the trees’ vitality and natural defenses against disease. The largest beech, near Irving Ave, will also receive an injection of a special compound that reduces the nematodes responsible for the disease.
