Three Events on October’s First Weekend

It is our great pleasure to offer our community three events this week.

Melissa Guillet, from 15 Minute Field Trips continues her monthly Art & Science in the Park series with Mysterious Mushrooms. Learn about decomposers, parasites, and those that work with tree roots, helping them communicate and get more nutrition. Kids (and adults) can make clay mushrooms to take home. On Saturday, October 8 at 2 PM at the trail by Patterson Park, Patterson Street and Rhode Island Avenue, Providence, RI 02906.

Srinivas Reddy, sitar and Ajit Acharya, tabla, practitioners of classical northern Indian Hindustani tradition, return to Blackstone Field on Saturday, October 8 at 5 PM, to treat us to a medley of early evening ragas set to a variety of talas.

– Join us this Sunday for our annual event Moonrise on the Seekonk. Watch the Hunter’s Moon rise majestically over the Seekonk River. Observe the night sky with powerful binoculars. Gaze at the planets through telescopes with R.I.’s amateur astronomers, the Skyscrapers. Hear music that is out of this world: The Crepuscular Cowboys -members of the bands Joe’s Backyard Band and Ghost Cat Rodeo, joining forces- will perform a mix of country, folk, rock and blues, originals and covers by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, The Rolling Stones, The Band, Bob Dylan, Graham Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and many more! Bring picnics, blankets, family and friends. On Sunday, October 9 at 5:30 PM at  Blackstone Field.

Enjoy the events, enjoy your beautiful parks!
