South Garden at Blackstone Boulevard Park. Photo by Jane Peterson.

Visitors to the South Garden on the Boulevard last week may have encountered a willowy masked woman carrying two large jugs of water. The water offered a clue to her identity: it was BPC volunteer Peggy Edwards, the horticulturist who tends this once wild and now-tidy space.

On her own initiative Peggy recently won a small grant from the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society that enabled her to buy the new native plants.

It’s spring and the monarch butterflies are migrating north from Mexico.  Help prepare for their arrival by planting milkweed.  Learn more about butterflies, moths, and host plants in this download with field guides and art activity by 15 Minute Field Trips! It’s free, but you must click here to register.
