Watch the Hunter’s Moon rise majestically over the Seekonk River. Observe the night sky with powerful binoculars. Gaze at the planets through telescopes with R.I.’s amateur astronomers, the Skyscrapers. Hear Joe’s Backyard Band play music that is out of this world! Bring picnics, blankets, family and friends. At Blackstone Field, across from the Narragansett Boat Club (2 River Drive, Providence, RI 02906). The Skyscrapers, RI’s amateur astronomers, will be there with their telescopes.
Please note mosquito-borne diseases such as WNV and EEEV are endemic to Rhode Island. Data from the RI Health Department of Health indicate the risk of these diseases in October is minimal. To further minimize risk, they recommend the application of an EPA approved-repellent before Moonrise. The Blackstone Parks Conservancy assumes no liability for mosquito-borne diseases.
