Winter Ducks And More

What a day! A Ruddy Duck, uncommon on the Seekonk, was a highlight of the final guided Winter Duck Walk, on Sunday, March 8. Another was the Harbor Seal that appeared briefly near the shore. In addition to these rarities, about 10 other types of waterbirds and a few land-based species were spotted by the two dozen or so walkers. Some of the birds were displaying their new spring finery and eye-catching courting behavior. Beyond all the great birding, everyone appreciated the balmy springlike weather, and the under-5 set relished the snowmelt puddles perfect for splashing.

Stay tuned for news of an upcoming guided Spring Bird Walk during the migration season!
