Are you passionate about urban forestry and protecting local green spaces? The Blackstone Parks Conservancy is seeking an observant, nature-loving Seasonal Conservation Monitor to help us care for the Blackstone Park Conservation District this summer. This is a flexible opportunity for students, aspiring ecologists, or local nature enthusiasts to gain hands-on experience in park stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor & Assess: Walk the park trails weekly to observe and document the condition of trails, plants, and park structures.
Report: Provide weekly updates to the Park Committee on maintenance needs, ecological concerns, and work accomplished.
Support Volunteers: Assist our volunteers with light maintenance, such as hand pruning and invasive plant removal.
Qualifications & Skills
Ability to walk park trails independently and work outdoors in summer weather conditions.
Reliable communication skills for reporting to the committee.
Basic knowledge of local plant species and conservation principles (or a willingness to learn).
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in forest ecology, conservation, or environmental science. Native plant knowledge a plus.
